I am working on an
infographic
to detail both
ColdFusion
and
Lucee
. The goal here is to share where Adobe ColdFusion shines. This is a positive resource to boost the presence of the CFML community at large. Please add your thoughts, insights, and more on ACF. Preview of the header...

Aren't you aware about not cross-posting John?!
j
No, is that a rule here?
p
Yes, should not cross post on channels.
j
I am not asking Lucee people to respond here. They respond in the Lucee channel. I want ColdFusion people to respond here. So, IMO, this is about Adobe ColdFusion. Just being transparent about where the information will land.
s
Probably more appropriate to put one post in the #cfml-general channel

Will take note of that for the future. Still looking for ACF feedback here.
s
it's just seems like having two posts would lead to two siloed conversations, would probably be better to just have one conversation IMHO
unless that is what you want: ACF folks to talk about what they like and Lucee folks to talk about what they like

Each side is going to be biased based on their needs and the features of their choice. It will by nature be two sided.
I want the sides in isolation actually.
s
I see... the post didn't make that clear
j
Pull requests on the text are welcome. šŸ™‚ lol
It doesn't appear to be editable at this point. Will seek to state Adobe CF feedback only here in the future. Is that better?

@johnfarrar I changed the setting to allow editing on older messages so that you can update your post here (and in #lucee) to clarify what feedback you're looking for (for those folks who don't read the thread šŸ™‚ )
j
Done. Hopefully that is better.

Lucee like a dog because is faithful?
j
That is a thing with Lucee. They name each release after someone on the team's dog.

What I like about AFC: support and SLA's , • Features are added or removed over large, multiple versions of the product; No dramatic changes • It's responsive to CVE alerts • Installation is simple • Installation supports various scripting models • The base lockdown tool follows DHS Cybersecurity guidelines • Parties er well as summits • Online Free "Get to Know CF" Seminars What I dislike about AFC: • It is costly, far too much so for small businesses to easily adopt • Limited market interest • Limited support for modern features • Lack of books • Lack of SMB interest • Lack of integration into other AFC assets such as AEM , Adobe Sign, Dreamweaver, ectra • Confusing licensing guidelines for the latest "CF" instances
j
I can see your point with other assets, because if Adobe doesn't see the value of integrating the product then it doesn't express they actually believe in their own product across the enterprise. The CF team is awesome, not taking anything away from them acknowledging that challenge. It is just room for growth at Adobe.
