Aloha Everybody, I will be coming to CF Summit this year, and I am so excited to be coming to the conference! By any chance is anybody arriving on the 1st, maybe we can share a taxi. Let me know, anyway I hope to see you all at the summit, it's going to be a great time
b
FWIW, the airport is very close to the strip and it's a quick and cheap Uber ride most of the time
And many of the hotels have a shuttle as well you should check on.
I'll be landing at , 5:13 PM on the 1st

@bdw429s thanks so much, this is good to know. I think that I get in town around 11 pm. I am glad to know that uber is cheap. I will see you at the conference

I think it is still like $20+, right Brad? It has been a while since I've been in Vegas and taken an Uber (I drove my own truck to last year's CF Summit)
b
If you look out the window as you're coming in for a landing, it will look like you're landing right on the strip. Not quite, but not far off either!
b
Uber or Lyft is still much cheaper than a taxi in Vegas (unless it's raining). Uber/Lyft drivers also usually take the most direct route because that's what their app tells them to do. Many taxi drivers sadly pad the fare by driving the long way around from the airport to the highway to the strip.
b
@brianklaas Sadly, I had a taxi driver do that to me in LA once. Thankfully I had already made the exact same trip several times that week. Not only did he take the long way, but he dropped me off on the opposing side of the conference center just to add a little more. Yeah, no tip for him.
c
I had to research the taxi/rideshare costs for my travel authorization at work. Taxi was generally a flat rate $25 from the airport to the hotel, while Uber/Lyft was < $20.

I am arriving on Oct 1. Assuming all the flights are on time, I should be at the airport around 1pm.

I'm arriving around 11am on the 1st.

In addition to Uber, there is also an airport shuttle that you can take from the airport to The Mirage too. That's $7 per person
Depending on how much luggage you have and how adventurous you are, from the airport to The Mirage is only about 4 miles away. So, you walk there if you'd like. Just need to be careful. This person walked from Harry Reid airport to the Vegas strip. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=walk+from+harry+reid+airport+to+vegas+strip
Actually, now that I am looking at my itinerary again...assuming all the flights are online, I will arrive at around noon on Oct 1 (not 1pm like I thought)
m
I'll be arriving at about 3 pm. I'm extending my stay in Vegas for a week and hitting Arizona on the way home so am going to have a good amount of luggage to deal with (definitely not walking 4 miles, LOL!) So the shuttle might be my best bet as Ubers aren't always thrilled if you have a lot of luggage (although when they say "starting at $7" it likely means more.)

I arrive at 4PM on the 1st - I am up for sharing a ride f anyone else gets in at that time.

Hopefully the apparent oncoming government shutdown won't disrupt our flights too much. I may have more trouble getting home though since I'm extending my trip into a longer vacation, about the time the ATCs start refusing to keep working.
b
I'm in the same boat. That would be rough

Delays are really difficult for me (i.e. cause me a lot of pain, over what just flying already does!) It definitely is my nightmare situation, getting stuck in an airport for hours, or worse, overnight. In the past they would give you a voucher for a local hotel, these days you are just on your own.
m
well, two of my in-laws are actually fed. employees. My sister-in-law works for USDA and her husband is law-enforcement officer for national fish and wildlife. Last time when the government shutdown, they were still paying the law enforcement officers but my sister-in-law was working without pay. I hope that they are not affected too much this time.

At least they do get back pay when the budget finally gets passed. But for a lot of people, a single missed paycheck can be a disaster. It certainly isn't going to help with the hiring shortage for ATCs that we already had.
