I'm going to pretend I am not here for this discussion....
m
Apologies, my comment was inappropriate and I've removed it.
m
No worries, I don't remember what it was but I wasn't offended. I probably should have added a smiley at the end of my comment because that's how it was intended to be taken, as tongue-in-cheek.

Really excited to see your presentation at summit. I'm pulling a few engineers in by their ears to see it too 🙂
m
Oh good lord, I was thinking with it being the last session of the day no one would show up, LOL!
Honestly I am always terrified getting up in front of people, but I also do it just so we CAN have a little extra female representation in this boys club. 😀
m
YES!
m
But I do think it's a good session for being at the end of the day, since it's much more conversational than code-heavy, when everyone's brains will be fried.
m
A perfect lead-in to the party!
m
Yup!
m
From conversation to networking and even more fun!
m
Well, if you consider networking fun. LOL
m
I'm a social animal. Like, its in the blood. And most especially with all the CF folks. Summit is such an amazing place, and the party is, I think, unique in the tech world. Most companies you're not gonna find the VP of the division walking around chatting everyone up. And all the engineers, sales folks. And my ridiculously colorful self of course 😄
Leopard print is likely to appear. Fair warning to all lol

I'm very much the opposite, I would rather speak in public than be in a room with a lot of people I don't know and have to strike up conversations with. Take after my Dad that way, my mom is much like you.

Honestly I doubt I would be able to go anyway, due to my various disabilities, getting through 2 days of conference and a long flight to get there is going to be about all I can handle. Some of you may remember the last time I did a conference I was having to use a wheelchair. So I'm really happy that I can get around on my own two feet now after a LOT of work to get my stamina back, but unfortunately I still deal with a lot of pain on a daily basis and anytime I am away from home that ramps up considerably.

Please let me know if there are any things we can do for you to make your time at Summit easier.
m
That's nice of you to ask. But there's not likely to be much that you can do, I typically work lying down as sitting in a chair is what causes me a lot of pain and there's not much way to get around that at a conference. I may just have to go up to my room to lie down for awhile, so my main concern is how far away that will be (knowing the size of these hotels!) When I travel I often bring a blowup camping mat so I can just find a quiet out of the way spot somewhere to lie down for awhile (helps a lot on longer flights which I try to break up with some stops along the way.)
m
That was honestly my concern, the hall where the conference is being held is quite a jog from the elevators to the rooms. I think we could probably tuck you away in the main hall when the big sessions aren't going whenever you needed a moment. Usually it is nearly empty, with just a couple folks there taking notes or doing work. I could ask the a/v team to tuck your mattress away behind their desks when you're not using it so its there when you needed it.
m
Okay that sounds like a good possibility. It's fairly easy to pump up and take down so I'll make sure to bring it with me.
