is this a bug?
Copy code
x = "0";
writeOutput( x IS "." ); //5.4 true, 5.3/ACF false

or a feature 🤔
I assume it is treating
"."
as
"0.0"

In lucee 6 it’s false
5 definitely a bug

The reveal: https://trycf.com/gist/a5b9024e50039ec8addabe6b15865028/lucee5?theme=monokai
Copy code
x = "0";
dot = "."
writeOutput( x IS dot ); // true

writeOutput(isNumeric(dot)) // true
writeOutput(dot * 1) // 0
At least it's fixed.

Ok
Fixing it is okay but at least lucee 5 is not considering it right

I wonder if it's something to do with the fix for https://luceeserver.atlassian.net/browse/LDEV-3275 ? I can't find anything else in Jira poititng to this (did not try very hard)
but at least lucee 5 is not considering it right
Sorry don't follow. Maybe yer asking if it's likely to be fixed in 5? I would say "no" given @zackster described 5.x as being in "maintenance mode" now.
z
more like https://luceeserver.atlassian.net/browse/LDEV-4480 maintenance mode includes bug fixes, and having 5.4 out of wack with 5.3 and 6.0 means this will be addressed
i have raised this a 6 regression, consistency shall be achieved, at least between 5.4 and 6.0
