I have literally done a copy / paste of the "script syntax" example here https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/coldfusion/using/java-integration-coldfusion.html and get
There was a compilation error. ''
I'm on ACF 2023,0,02,330482
and the TAG SYNTAX example when copy / paste gives the same error.
@Mark Takata (Adobe) any ideas? Is this feature broken or bad examples?
Maybe security as I see this in stracktrace
coldfusion.tagext.security.JavaTag$RunException: There was a compilation error. '' at coldfusion.tagext.security.JavaTag.doAfterBody(JavaTag.java:98)

Sorry, I'm up to my ears for a couple days, could you post this in #documentation and tag @saghosh?
a
yeah, no problem. Although it sounds like your eyebrows aren't busy... :)

@aliaspooryorik Works OK on 2021,0,09,330148. Both examples. Strumming up some CF2023 and will see what I get.
Also works fine on 2023,0,03,330486. I will note that 2023 is noticeably slow compared to 2021.
a
interesting, so guess that
coldfusion.tagext.security
is kicking in somehow then. Not running in a sandbox though. Will try direct by spinning up a commandbox instance.
OK - so commandbox with 2021 works... 2023 does not. Very odd.
Appears it does not work on ARM based hardware. Using a Intel based Macbook - works in ACF2023, on a ARM based Macbook it does not compile. ACF 2021 works on both.
Our servers on Amazon AWS are using ARM processors

Ooof.
Not exactly an edge case them. Although, granted, using the Java Integration in ColdFusion is probably the edge case in this ;-) But @Mark Takata (Adobe) I'm surprised CF's automated testing did not pick this up? I presume (cough) it's run on all common architectures? [/me places bet that they do not test at all on different architectures, just whatever architecture their test server is...]
a
I was surprised that ACF2021 worked on both so something changed.
a
I misread that and nodded along at my misunderstanding. I read it as "I was surprised that ACF2021 worked"

God I love waking up to Adam tagging me on stuff I'm already tagged on lol. We're looking at this.
a
\me is imagining Mark opening his eyes a bit, blinking a few times, stretching and then rolling over to look at his screen "I wonder how Adam is?"
🤣 2
But it was a different & specific Q, Mark. `@`ing a person is not just for going "are you aware of this thread", it's to indicate yer addressing them (when it's not perhaps clear it is them specifically yer addressing).
m
Don't lie, you do it and then giggle, thinking how delightful it is to buzz my watch at 2am PST lmao 😄
a
WELL NOW THAT I KNOW THAT HAPPENS YES OBVIOUSLY

Prob best not to go to sleep - seems like the best way to avoid being woken up

Honestly I keep trying to do that but I'm old as dust and the brain just keeps turning off occasionally here and there. Mountain Dew helps.
a
Following up - did you replicate this? ta.
m
I haven't had a chance to try this but it is in JIRA via Tracker. It fits into a larger "CF on ARM" thing we've had feedback on.
a
yeah - I raised the ticket as requested, but hadn't been notified of any change so thought Id consult the oracle.
Adam hasn't bugged you for a few hours so figured you must be bored.
