IMO, no diff than where simple one-liners make sense.
Copy code
if (condition) doSomething();

I try to avoid these, but if I ever do use them, I like it all on one line. As soon as I type,
Copy code
if (condition)
  doSomething();
it's just begging for someone to come along an accidentally add some whitespace or additional logic without realizing those lines are tied together.

Zach -- that makes my brain hurt 😜

I cringe every time I see this sorta thing in the Lucee codebase. Just cowboy shit.

Adam -- I mean we can't complain too loudly... CFML is mostly cowboy shit. It was designed for non-programmers, later by non-programmers 😉

It's been at least 15yrs since the notion that web development was something non-devs should be engaging in. Since those times that positioning has been professionally irresponsible. (Not saying it doesn't still exist. I mean just look around the channels here :-| )

Who needs devs when you got Chatty!

Adobe had done itself no favours by also being pretty poor at their own game with CF & CFML. And LAS makes a lot of questionable decisions too, obvs.
It's why CFML is a ghetto. Despite - eg - Ortus's best efforts.
Maybe they should fork Railo (sic) and make CfmlBox!
