So we need to update our old server and looking to purchase 2023 (even though it's VERY new). CDW-G is saying there is no option for an outright purchase and must move to an annual subscription. Is this true!?
It's been a while since our last upgrade, but looks like we had a quote for 2021 that was outright (no subscription). 🤷‍♂️

@Mark Takata (Adobe)? (might be on vacation)

Hey Patrick, I'm back. 🙂 Unfortunately, I have no information on what CDW may or may not be offering. Please email the sales team at coldfusionsales@adobe.com for information on purchasing enterprise grade licenses. My understanding is that, for now, perpetual is still offered. What changed is there are no UPGRADE licenses (that changed in late 2021). ETLA (enterprise-grade subscriptions) are definitely offered though, and I highly recommend them.
(whoops my bad I had vacation still on 😄 )

My guess is that CDW-G (we're a school district) doesn't deal with CF sales much so they have to research themselves. We typically get enterprise (although we probably don't use it to the full potential) and purchase a full copy since the previous server also remains active for a time. Would that sales address be able to give me a part number to pass along? We purchase all our Adobe stuff through CDW-G, so I'm not sure we'd go Adobe direct. 🤷‍♂️

I think so, and you're right, I do know that a lot of schools deal with CDW directly. Let me know if you get actionable info from that email address, if not, I can step in and directly chat with someone in sales to figure out exactly what's up. There's someone who deals with education, but I've only seen him do university deals, not school systems, which might have different purchasing requirements. Honestly kind of out of my wheelhouse, but keep me in the loop and I'll help where I can. 🙂

Email sent, I'll report back with my findings. Thanks

Penman -- We had luck getting part numbers and such from our CDW-G rep. We usually talk to them and Carehartsoft and go with the lowest. Prices for standard and enterprise went up about 400% for us because they dropped the upgrade licenses plus other increases. We also had to buy a TON of licenses during our last audit because they forced us to count cores on the physical hardware on our virtual machines instead of what we provisioned to the servers.

Nothing back from the sales email address yet... Guess I'll see if they send anything after I return from the extended holiday break.
