Is anyone else still exploring xkcd's Escape Speed world?
d
I haven't been keeping up w xkcd at all, so thanks for the pointer :) Are you discovering unobvious behaviors, strategies, easter eggs, etc? Maybe you programmed an automated hyperspeed arrow key clicker in js?

Yes, gravity seems unpredictable when you can't see the big picture. And I've found a couple of boosters for my engine, so that's good. Originally I thought it was only the two planets and now wonder just how big this universe is. You?

Hadn't seen it before your msg, and I'm pretty much head down w work, so I've barely played with it at all, and probably won't get a chance to very much. Pretty cool though, esp since you've said it's larger than one might expect.

I keep getting stuck in the interior of the big planet close by. can't seem to get out even after getting the booster. haha

Yes, that took awhile for me too. You have to use gravity to your advantage, but it's not intuitive how to do that. I think if you go to the end opposite the arch, let gravity take you back to the middle and then when you get there fire your thrusters to head towards the arch.
h
i'll have to try that. I wonder if the little dots around the space ship indicate planets to visit.

I hadn't paid too much attention to those, but perhaps I should. Maybe they're a gravity indicator?
