Hello, does anyone here know anything about DNS? And how to move DNS-records when your primary DNS-provider has gone belly-up and we are unable to add, delete or modify exisiting DNS-records?

Need to update your domain Name Servers to another location where you will be storing your DNS records.

But aren't the nameservers a part of your DNS? OR is it a part of a domainname registration? Unlucky for us, that same provider registered our domains.

You may be in a major issue there; the name servers are what is tied to your domain name for a location to put DNS records. But I believe they cant just crash out and everyone lose domain(s) they own. Not sure what the process is there. Should be sure to keep them with a large scale reputable company like Google.

Yes, company was uber-reputable for the last 8 years, then sold out to another company, and they have botched things up really bad. So just weighing my options here. More than 60 domains with about a 1000 DNS-records, so not really a fan of moving this stuff 😐

Places like Google provide easy transition capabilties to move your DNS records for you; They also have bulk transfer capabilities and nice flat rates that have been steady for quite some time. https://domains.google.com/registrar/transfer/bulk

Thnx. So first move the domains (and pay yearly domain registration fee, again...) and then import the DNS-settings, as far as they are exportable. Otherwise it is copy and paste, but that's a tedious proces 😉 . Any other things I need to consider after moving?

The process should be pretty easy, they move all the DNS. There isnt much you have to do other than unlock each domain and obtain the Auth Code for each one; which some registrars have just 1 for all your domains sometimes. And paying that additional year just adds to your existing time so you arent losing anything there.
