Not necessarily a Linux thing (I guess technically a Unix thing because of MacOS) but this terminal emulator got me to port my phone number away from my GrapheneOS phone back to my iPhone last night: https://www.rootshell.com It has so many features that are mind-blowing to me: - Local shell environment, with tools like ping, curl, ssh, mosh available - Config file support for things like aliases, env vars, etc. - Based on libghostty - Vim and Helix natively available - The ability to compile WASM things -- so you can theoretically compile Rust and Golang executables - LLM support - VNC support - iCloud sync between devices - SSH keychain integration -- can require authentication to use ssh keys - Automatic tmux detection and a GUI to switch sessions This one app literally made my iPad/iPhone as useful as a computer without needing to SSH into anything external.
