It's great to see some of the product-focused features outlined in this announcement, nicely done. Some feedback from a team that is running their own cal.com self-hosted instance though: I would LOVE a detailed migration guide or at the very least, a breaking change list. It's been my experience going from 1.3->1.5->1.6 that between each minor version (and sometimes even patch versions!), the build process changes in a way that breaks the previous methodology. I'd love to get ahead of those changes, rather than chasing after them in error logs, with more developer focused release notes.

hey @Demetri M 🙂 just flagging again for @Peer @Bailey and @zomars to take a glance at if they haven’t already. Thank you for the feedback!
p
hey @Demetri M, we’re hoping to have stable migration guides moving forward after v.2.0 (expected in september). for now, the product is changing too rapidly and we dont want to provide too much legacy support, so we dont clutter the codebase too much

but yeah, starting 2.0 we hope to ship more upgrade guides / outline breaking changes, etc.

d
Hey thanks for the response, looking forward to 2.0!

@Peer expect breaking changes and no documentation until v2.0? i don’t understand where this leaves Cal-as-Infra customers. do we not upgrade until 2.0? do we take on your tech debt and try upgrading? if so, when and to which patch?
how are other Cal-as-Infra teams handling this?
p
great point, let me follow up with an upgrade path on monday!
👍 1
what version are you on?
d
Currently running v1.6.1
p
ok good, 1.7 should be fairly ok to upgrade. the booking page / datepicker got a major overhaul to cache all availabilities

wanna jump on a call to discuss? cal.com/peer+zomars
j
look forward to it! @Marx-Lenin Topico has some design docs where we are evaluating how cal could fit in our infra.

nice! excited to see that
