you either buy more shipyard space max 5 using BSN or empty your ship then you can scuttle it to free space and use another one

you can also buy ship storage using BSN to stock ships in your nation capital port up to 100 ship but you need to go to your capital each time you want to withdraw and use one of those ships

Any advice about Naval Officer and Privater? I want learn to PvP 1v1 and still participate in port battles. Are privaters viable for large port battles? Last time I played it took quite a long time to grind to max level...a but hesitant to chose. Will have fun of course, just want some input from the community.

For nationals it is pretty much the Batavia Flute. For Pirates there is an equivalent (Sampson?).

With Pieces of 8 you can get cargo hold expansions that give you 25% more space (x2), with an obvious weakening of armour or a turn rate berf from memory.

San Mateo stripped will hold a bit more but open sea acceleration is horrible, npcs will catch you in battle.

Sampson is good for both capacity and speed.
