WhatsApp buttons showing “Choose” and “Options” in...

Hello everyone, I’m using Botpress Cloud with WhatsApp integration. My bot content is fully in Spanish, but interactive buttons/lists still show English labels like: “Choose…” “Options” I’m using Single Choice cards. Is there any way to force these WhatsApp interactive labels to display in Spanish instead of English? Or is this currently hardcoded by WhatsApp/Botpress? I attached screenshots for reference. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1507087417860165662/1507087418061488322/Captura_de_pantalla_2026-05-21_132537.png?ex=6a10a008&is=6a0f4e88&hm=b754883fe830509dea04bdfd297e796e2cce223bdddbe1dbe1b5fee5cbfd2776&

Hey @proud-army-34929, this seems to be hard coded by WhatsApp - we cannot change it on our side!

Understood, thank you. Is there any possible workaround or alternative approach to control this behavior from the WhatsApp side? Even if it's limited or unofficial. We would just like to know if there’s any recommended way to make the selection behavior more consistent for users.

I don't think so but I'll do some research for you and get back 🫡

const data = { purpose: 'sendmessage', message_data: { messaging_product: 'whatsapp', recipient_type: 'individual', to: user.phoneNumber, type: 'interactive', interactive: { type: 'list', header: { type: 'text', text: 'The K Story' }, body: { text: 'Select an option to begin' }, action: { button: 'The K Story Menu', sections: [ { title: 'Restaurant Options', rows: [ { id: 'the_k_tiffin', title: 'The K Tiffin', description: 'Subscription based home-style meals delivered to you' }, { id: 'the_k_curry', title: 'The K Restaurant', description: 'Awesome food, great taste' }, { id: 'the_k_catering', title: 'The K Catering', description: 'Home catering service for birthdays kitty party' }, { id: 'the_k_bulk_order', title: 'The K Bulk Orders', description: 'For birthdays kitty party etc.,' } ] }, { title: 'Other Actions', rows: [ { id: 'profile', title: 'My Profile', description: 'View & Update Profile' }, { id: 'faq', title: 'Customer Support', description: 'Chat with K Tiffin' }, { id: 'exit', title: 'Exit', description: 'Exit the Menu' } ] } ] } } } } console.log(data) // This sends to META via api.dashboard. Skip can send directly to META via Graph await axios .post(bot.apiurl, data, { headers: { Authorization:
Bearer ${bot.apiurl_token}
, 'Content-Type': 'application/json' } }) .then((response) => { console.log('Success:', response.data) }) .catch((error) => { console.error('Error:', error.response ? error.response.data : error.message) }) this is possible if you know the META API Token - you need to send via an execute code card

Thank you! I noticed the manual interactive list payload allows defining custom button text. Would it be possible in Botpress to send WhatsApp interactive lists using a custom payload/action button label instead of the default Single Choice rendering? For example using: action.button = "Seleccionar opción" Our main goal is avoiding the default English labels shown to Spanish-speaking users.

Hola Deibis.

Thank you so much! 🙌 Your solution worked perfectly. Using the
Before Outgoing
hook with
payload.buttonLabel
fixed the WhatsApp “Choose...” label issue for our Spanish users. Really appreciate your help 🚀
