We noticed that it doesn't seem possible to reliably receive the original filename including its file extension when using the webchat react component. The file extension in the

is removed and the uploaded fileUrl on botpress is not reliable. Example: Our users upload

.step

files and they automatically are replaced with a

.bin

extension on botpress.

The default Webchat upload only gives a temporary URL (.bin‑like) and a fileId. To keep the extension in the stored file URL, re‑upload the file via the Files API: https://botpress.com/docs/api-reference/introduction#files-api

Don't know how the files api would help me here. Our customers are currently sharing files with us via the webchat and we just don't know what files these are. There is no way I can upload them seperately via the files api. Also we noticed that the behavior of the emulator in botpress studio is different. There the file extensions are preserved. Thats why we noticed this issue quite late when testing.
