How does message counting work?
# 🤝help
w
I have the Plus plan and would like to know how message counting works. With this plan, I have 5K messages per month, but are these 5K the sum of the total messages sent by the user + messages sent by the bot? Or only those sent by the bot? Or only those sent by the user?
w
they're 5000 EVENTS - messages are only a type of event
as far as messages go, only incoming messages count, outgoing ones do not
other things count as events too like any triggers you have and also publishing your bot (which counts as 3)
w
How can I know how many events were used in the January 16 sessions? I need to know how to do this count to estimate my bot costs.

You can use this handy tool 💻
w
What I want is to be able to see how many of the 5K events were used on January 16 in my bot so that I can estimate a cost based on that information. This is so that I can know if the 5K events are sufficient or if I should purchase another 5K for $20.
l
Let me do some digging and get back!
w
you can see how many messages were used, i don't think you can see all events
just click "analytics" in your "monitor" section
w
Yes, I have that information. There are 120 incoming messages. That is the number I am interested in, as it relates to the 5K events. I would like to know the others to get a better estimate.
w
do you have any other triggers in your workflow?
like a webhook trigger, or a schedule one
if you don't, you can approximate your event amount by doing 120 + (amount of times you believe you published your bot that day * 3)
or you can go to inspect > events and manually check how many times you published it
if you don't have any other triggers then incoming messages + publishing will make up most of your events
w
No, no other. Just AI tasks, text flows with some questions for the user to answer using buttons or lists in WhatsApp, and data capture points. Just to be sure: by publishing the bot, do you mean when I click on the publish button? If so, I don't really have a daily number, more like a weekly number, maybe once or twi
w
yes, that button
that uses up 3 events
