Stages and copy steps not running
# questions
r
Returning to Ublue and co after a hiatus (busy with work) and found this project was the continuation of a familiar template I built a previous Kinoite based image with. This time I just want to start simple and add some extra packages and programs to
bazzite-dx-nvidia
to do some gaming but still have my usual tools. My recipe can be found here: https://github.com/gunzy83/gazzite/blob/main/recipes/recipe.yml. Workflow files straight from the template other than adding
use_unstable_cli: true
during testing just in case that helped. It builds fine and will not stop me using the image as is, however there is a tool I am trying to compile and include in the image but the stages step does not run and therefore the copy steps in the main image do not run also. I have no idea what I am doing wrong here as I have: * read the documentation back to front multiple times * checked out other repos using stages * tried using AI to help * even compiled the bluebuild cli and ran
bluebuild generate -v recipe.yml
and found that the stage is added to the
Containerfile
but the copy steps are not. Nothing has worked. Looking for any tips on using this feature. Thanks.

It's not working for both the unstable version and the latest release version?
Your recipe looks correct
Oh I figured it out
You're using
source:
not
src:
It needs to be
src:
and
dest:
The reason it's not showing up is cause we have a [helper function](https://github.com/blue-build/cli/blob/723ff8c580e29475510edc92be91a43fbcca0f3b/recipe/src/module.rs#L80-L86) that will return
None
if
src
or
dest
doesn't exist in the module and will subsequently [not print](https://github.com/blue-build/cli/blob/723ff8c580e29475510edc92be91a43fbcca0f3b/template/templates/modules/copy/copy.j2#L1) in the template

Had other issues with my build script but that works now, thank you! Weirdly the json schema only picked up on things being wrong when I switched source to src.
g
Yeah
source
is a common module property that allows you to specify the source image of the module you want to run. And the schema sees that as a custom module so it allows basically any other property to exist

Makes sense
