The conda-forge version of BentoML is not officially maintained by the BentoML team and can be out of date, itā€™s recommended to install BentoML using pip

I guess I can try, I always thought it was good practice to perform all package installations in an environment exclusively with one or the other (conda or pip)

when you using pip inside conda environment, packages you install still lives within that environment. I often like to think conda to be a nicer virtualenv for pure python packages. Conda is useful for libraries that has C extension, which often time can be harder to build from source on different platforms other than x86. For now, bentoml is a pure python package, which means that maintaining conda is a bit of a hassle. Like Chaoyu mentions, we suggest users who are using conda to install bentoml with pip.
