Hello ! I see no mention of
pyproject.toml
as an option for project dependency resolving in the documentation, can they be used instead of
requirements.txt
? If so, how? If not, why? And is there any plan to support them?
Hello @Jian Shen Yap ; do you know where I could find some info on that front?

Hi @Pierre Lecerf i let this slip past myself. @Frost Ming do we have plans to support
pyproject.toml
?

That seems fine, but
pyproject.toml
contains much more than
requirements.txt
, and we can only read a certain field like
project.dependencies
and ignore
project.optional-dependencies

@Frost Ming what's your stance on this general issue? My understanding is that the industry, mostly more mature python projects, have been moving away from
requirements.txt
in favour of the more structured and feature-rich
pyproject.toml
. Where I work we're pushing for the use of BentoML for model serving services, but everywhere else we use
pyproject.toml
for dependency declarations, this makes for a weird discrepancy.
