Unfortunately, we do not have fukll backwards compatibility for yatai for 1.2. If you need to interact with yatai you may have to use 
1.1

Ugh. 😨 That's equivalent to preventing me from ever upgrading beyond 1.1! Is this intended to be a permanent state? Very problematic...

Your blog post about 1.2 begins with "Before we dive in, we want to reassure you that this release maintains full backward compatibility." That doesn't seem quite accurate...
Maybe it would be worth having a broader conversation about yatai? I've seen other users ask about yatai compatibility going forward (see for example here and here). So far there hasn't been any communication around deprecation, and what that would mean for existing users of the system.
I mean, I get that you're trying to steer users towards your commercial solution BentoCloud. But a sudden deprecation of an integral part of the existing ecosystem (in a minor version update no less!) seems a bit extreme, no? Preventing existing yatai users from upgrading past 1.1 is quite user unfriendly. What about future bug fixes or library incompatibilities (like we saw with cattrs or starlette)? Lastly, this change has not been transparently communicated at all.
