We're actually thinking that we might move away from starlette some time into the future, simply to avoid using python for the web server entirely, so didn't want to expose too much of the starlette API directly to avoid backwards incompatibility. I think that query param support would absolutely make sense. Do you want to open an issue, or shall I?
