The database I'm pointing Avo has a lot of data, it is a not a very well designed BI db. And I need to ALWAYS filter some data for some users. It is not a full blown authorization (the client does not want to manage this right now), but more of a permanent/unchangeable filter based on the current user (there are a few variations). Any suggestions?

The best thing you/they should do is to purchase the pro version
Any workarounds will yield to unwated results and more time wasted
l
sure, the pro version is non-negotiable, as they use other features
but is there a simple way to always filter some resources based on a query?
l
So, why not get the pro version
l
without using the authorization/cancan?

This is a pro feature. Authorization

the long story is: We use another system, which drives a GIGANTIC amount of all sorts of dashboards and other kinds of resources. Avo right now handles just the "admin" part, an easy way to add/remove data. And this other system has a gigantic authorization schema (really gigantic) and we can't invest time right now, adding this to Ruby/Rails/Avo. So we want just a simple filter, as adding our authorization system to Pundit will become a humongous task.
l
Not really. It’s a class and one method (resolve) and you’re about done

hmmmm
the Scope

I’m clocking out. It’s rather late.
Again. If this is such a big system and it helps the company so much, the very least they can do is purchase a license.
If they had to build it from scratch it would take quite a lot of effort, would it not?
This expenctancy for everything to be free and do all the work is really hurting the ecosystem
Especially considering how much money Rails development costs.
Anyway. Clocking out now. It’s late on my end.
l
sure sure, they will purchase it
this is 100% non-negotiable
we are still on a "beta" phase right now, setting up the envs and validating everything. Last week was the first deploy that the associates could actually use, and now we are trimming the edges, and they will purchase the license.
