04/08/2026, 5:12 PMnew password input, the validation message displays when passwords don't match (1) .
The key behavior to note: if the Policy previewer is turned on, the validation message will only display after the new password satisfies the policy. If the policy isn't satisfied, the policy validation message displays first .
This means when a user enters a password over 64 characters (exceeding the maximum length of 5-64 characters (2) ) , the policy error takes precedence. However, the mismatch error may persist because the component hasn't re-validated the match state after the policy error appears.
To configure a custom error message for password mismatches, you can add it on the confirm password field by turning on the toggle for Password confirmation (1) . This message will display when both password fields don't match .
For error handling in your flow, you can use Automatic error handling to redirect users back to the screen with a custom error message, or use Custom handling to control the flow behavior based on specific errorsAnson Geisel
