False!
A work around is to have the USB from the mic plugged into the back as power, and then use monitor out from your headphone jack in your USB mic to the back XLR-1/4 combo of your choice on the Rodecaster. I have the usb from the XDM100 plugged into USB 2 as power. USB 1 is currently connected to my computer DAW.
After testing with the beautiful and bassy XDM100 dynamic mic, I recommend turning the hardware up to max volume on the mic, and then adjusting accordingly the board. This is because you will have a full signal to the 1/4 from the mic, this allows you to adjust your slider (or mic preamp db level) accordingly without clipping or distortion. Distortion in many cases is caused by a weak signal.
Yes, an XLR input is better as it’s a single cable solution, however, as I have 1 xlr, and 1 usb mic available, this works perfectly.
I assigned my XLR to channel 1, and my XDM100 usb on channel 2,
and the XDM powered by USB 2
And now my wife can podcast with her guests! I’ll be sharing this in my next BTS Rodecaster Duo review and tips/tricks video. Enjoythe hack. 🤖
