@Fabian Schmieder I'm currently also working on an ethernet driver for the raspi 4 btw
Which I just noticed you had already pushed 🙂 But, I had a look at it, it doesn't look like it will work. Have you tested it on real hardware? And another concern is that it uses GPL code which is not compatible with the AROS license.
f
I will check that; if it really contains GPL code, please remove it immediatly. I started this as a clean-room reimplementation. Last tested it in May and were sure that the device worked.
And sorry for the contamination BTW.
b
I have not read every line, just saw the header which says it is based on the u-boot driver. That is what my statement is based on. What is regarded as a clean room implementation and not is a bit of a graysone these days. Assuming you have used claude here?
f
Yes, I analyzed it - and it's the wrong driver; was my 1st try and not my reimplemntation effort I afterwards started on github.com/freebsd/freebsd-src/blob/…/if_genet.c.
Can you remove it; i sort it out and create an new PR.
b
I don't have write access to the repository, @Kalamatee will know what to do.
f
I wil inform him.
b
great, thanks
f
Done! Thank you for your heads up!
b
no worries, looking forward to test your work 😄
The genet driver does not compile with latest master, so I just created a new PR where I delete it so master builds again, since it was the wrong driver to begin with. Hope that is ok with you.
@Fabian Schmieder Hi, any news on your genet driver?
