How is this normal? Like out ~400 total users I have 300 ($1500/$5) of them are just free users, even if you call this normal I can gurantee a lot of these 300 users are fake accounts . Also on top of this we pay commssions to apify for $1000. As apify you have transferred all the free limits to us (devs) and you are taking away share even from the profit, don't you think this is a little unfair? Since all your costs to acquire customer is transferred to all the devs and for the profits you earn from devs as well as the users who subscribes to the platform. As a dev we pay free credits costs, we pay for usage costs we pay to apify for comissions. How is this fair? Any other devs or anyone does makes sense to you guys or do you have any comments on this?

I think maybe there's a misunderstanding about how compute is charged. Apify doesn't deduct the compute costs for free users from your profits.
s
Apify don't charge devs for free users
e
Free users don't cost you anything, they just don't make you any money. Apify covers the costs for free users, as that's considered worth it for the chance to convert free users to paying users

" even if you call this normal I can gurantee a lot of these 300 users are fake accounts" but this can be true to some extent

We can look into your numbers more but I doubt most of those free users are long term "free leeches". Basically, if you provide Actor that has some competition, the user can try 20 similar Actors before committing to subscribe. And now with AI, it is trivial to try 20 Actors and let the AI choose the best. So I think that is more like cause than fraud.

This is just assumption not backed with data. You have all the devs data if you could a honest stats of free v/s paid users with the revenue and profits for both categories. I will believe you then. I am saying this because I have been doing this study for past 8-9 month and just on my account but I have data from 5 accounts (including me).
It is not about the cost but about the gap between free v/s paid users.
Also when a free user uses the platform devs absorb that costs not apify.
t
I limit the user's result generation per run. It may have effect on my users acquisation but I don't care either, I stay away from free users who won't pay ever. I give enough free requests to try, if genuine users would be using they would pay
I have very high margin due to this. I still have not implemented in all actors but the trend is clear, the actor which don't lmit gets a lot of free usage.
