hey all. is anyone developing on a mac m1? I’ve gotten a cluster running on docker. however i can’t replicate another cluster. As when the 2nd cluster needs the meta data created. running zookeeper on a different port than 2181 results in an error. Ofc, the vlan for docker is broken. As least that’s how I remember it. Any other ideas? Thanks

I develop on Mac M3 Max. Instead of Docker Compose, I use Docker Desktop's integrated k8s cluster to run development testing clusters. You can use https://github.com/apache/pulsar-helm-chart to deploy as long as you pass

--set affinity.anti_affinity=false

or set that in the values file. minikube would do the job too.

This is a total non starter. There’s docker, then K8 integration with docker, then helm and the docs https://pulsar.apache.org/docs/3.2.x/helm-prepare/ aren’t that great at all.

It’s a group effort, @Paul M. People here will help you get through all obstacles. If just those people who get help will contribute one step to the guide, eventually it will be great.

I managed to get a 3x cluster (zookeeper, bookie, broker) running under docker. Running with a geo-replicated topic. 1 pub under west send messages and consumers connected to west, cent, east all get them. 😄 I put my docker compose file and how-to here: https://github.com/apache/pulsar/discussions/22228
