The error message means that there is no existing user called
postgres
in your DB
r
could u tell me is this user is default one or what i have to do to mitigate this? before it was actually working..
a
You need to check the available users in postgres, on some systems the default user is
postgres
on others its
superuser
for example
r
so its not that the pulsar cant find my DB itself, but a user is not there in DB?
a
I think so, if you use
psql
to connect against your postgres instance you can check the list of users running
\du
command
r
do u know how i can find the postgres instance IP to connect? as i think its inbuilt in pulsar manager and there was not a dedicated instance for this backend in my cluster
a
The pulsar manager does not start any postgres instance, you will have to spin up postgres yourself (or alternatively use the builtin H2 db)
r
ohh okay, let me look at the helm chart i had applied.
hello @Alexander Preuß i checked the DB, and found the following users and role i actually created a user like below, but still the above error is there. is there anything i can do other than uninstalling the whole thing?
a
If you use psql or some other client, can you use this user to log in to the database you are setting in the jdbc connection url of the pulsar-manager?
r
i am not sure if i understand.. do u mean below: i logged into pgadmin, logged into DB of the pulsar which i gave during installation. and went to users and role, but there was no data. so i manually created a super user like above restarted the manager pod
a
Can you try connecting with
psql
with the username and password and the same database like in pulsar manager? For example if this is your config
Copy code
spring.datasource.url=jdbc:<postgresql://localhost:5432/pulsar_manager>
spring.datasource.username=postgres
spring.datasource.password=postgres
try:
psql <postgresql://postgres:postgres@localhost:5432/pulsar_manager>
and see if you are able to successfully connect/make changes
r
lemme try thankss!!
i asked my backend teammate abt this they asked me : psql postgresql://postgres:postgres@localhost:5432/pulsar_manager needs to be fired where exactly?
a
It does not matter, you can use any pod/machine that would have network access to the db
