This is wrong.
It means it is placed in the send queue and blocks the thread until the server (broker) returns an acknowledgment that the write succeeded.
It has nothing to do with the Consumer API.

&gt;  The producer puts a message into blocking queue and *returns* afterwards. The client library sends the message to the broker in the background.
sync does the same. The only difference is that async returns the Future and sync, wait on that Future in a blocking fashion.
