will protobuf support tie in with kafka schema registry as well?

Do you have schema registry for protobuf?

confluent announced schema registry for protobuf recently so was wondering if that was in the roadmap.

Or planning to use the confluent schema registry

i did start with protobuf but now considering moving to avro if it opens up the larger eco system for me. and hence the question.
