hi does pinot have existing recovery runbooks to recover data from hdfs in case there is data loss from pinot server disks? working out how to recover data in case of cluster wide data loss issues

you make pinot segments download URL to hdfs then server disk loss will be automatically handled

so the issue is that even zk disks have been wiped, is reuploading segments from hdfs via a batch job sufficient here?

That's different, 1. Backup your zk regularly; 2. You can re-upload segments from the deep store
