Hello everyone,
I’m going through the code base and internals of Pinot, and I wanted to share my approach and ask for some guidance. I’ve started by checking the developer section in the documentation and setting up the codebase as outlined. As I explored the code, especially from the perspective of the broker SQL API call, I realized there are quite a few prerequisites that I might need to understand better.
For instance, I’ve learned that Calcite is crucial for parsing queries, and it seems essential to grasp this before fully understanding query planning and execution. Are there any other libraries or concepts that I should familiarize myself with to get a good grasp on query planning and execution?
Alternatively, would it be more beneficial to start by focusing on ingestion and segment storage to build a strong foundation of the code base before diving deeper into query internals?
Looking forward to your thoughts.
