I tried the configurations in the docs for version 0.4.0, it is ["stream.kafka.consumer.prop.group.id": "<group id>", "stream.kafka.consumer.prop.client.id": "<client id>"], and it didn't work.

Pinot doesn’t use group id any more. It maintains offsets internally
