@channel - incase of a cluster break down, is there a way to restore and map the existing segments i have deep stored in s3 to the new cluster? any docs available on this?

ZK stores the cluster metadata data, and S3 (in your case) stores the data. As long as those are intact, just bringing up the individual components should resurrect the cluster.
