Hi everyone, I’m new to Flink, and I am trying to connect to Exasol with JDBC. I found it on the Flink webpage, and it says the JDBC connector support MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Derby and SQL Server, so I wasn’t sure if it’s possible to connect to a DB that is not on the supported list. Does someone connect to Exasol before? Or connecting examples with the DBs that are not on the list will be very helpful. Thanks
m
There is no Exasol dialect implemented for the JDBC connector

Hi Martijn, I guess it is not practical to implement it by myself, since it sounds a lot of work. Does that mean only 5 DBs are supported? I have to say I’m surprised.

Yes
I have to say I’m surprised.
There are a couple of others open, but it all relies on volunteers who want to contribute/add more dialects. See https://github.com/apache/flink-connector-jdbc/pull/67 + https://github.com/apache/flink-connector-jdbc/pull/55 + https://github.com/apache/flink-connector-jdbc/pull/8 + https://github.com/apache/flink-connector-jdbc/pull/3

Is there any workaround to connect to a unsupported DB? Like using custom Source or Sink maybe?
m
Implementing the dialect for the JDBC driver is probably easier, because you don't have to write the code for things like snapshots, semantics, guarantees etc
m
Oh, I see, thanks
