Hi all, I am attempting to write to an Elasticsearch 8 cluster. Is it correct that an ES-Flink connector for ES 8 is not available yet? And also that an ES:7-Flink connector is not compatible with Elasticsearch 8?
m
Both statements are correct
t
Alright, that is unfortunate. Do you know anything about the progress of the development? 🙂
m
There's not much to report IIRC
t
Thanks! I am trying to understand what would be necessary to make it work for ES8. If I am not mistaken also
flink-connector-elasticsearch-base
needs to refactored to work with the new Elasticsearch Java API client isn’t it?
m
Yes because the old client has a license change that’s incompatible with the Apache License 2
t
I just found this in the ES documentation: https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/client/java-api-client/current/migrate-hlrc.html You think it it would work to reuse Flink-ES7 connector and override the creation of the client in compatibility mode?
m
No because it requires a newer version of the client with the incompatible license change
t
Ah I see thank you for the responses!
