I would think so, but you'd want to keep it up-to-date, maybe replication? (And of course you'd have to update druid configs to use it if needed.)

also if you are gonna run the two clusters at the same time, you would want to avoid doing ingestion and data management operations on the backup cluster

yes, my plan is to not run middlemanager, just launch historicals so that they can take their sweet time loading all the segment caches.
