I thought the Coordinator would pick up on config changes in the compaction spec, I just can't find the source file right now that will show explicitly what is checked. I would think granularity and/or partitioning config changes should trigger a new compaction.

I wonder what change exactly you made? Could be something that isn't stored as part of the compaction state, in which case a new compaction wouldn't be triggered
