Hi everyone. I'm quite new to airbyte. Can anyone confirm does Airbyte allows to do transformation on top of the connection that are made. I came to this query based on this thread https://docs.airbyte.com/operator-guides/transformation-and-normalization/transformations-with-sql. Can someone please confirm.

Hi. airbyte is not a transformation tool - it uses dbt cloud to do it- you can create your own models on top of airbyte

Hi Eli. Thanks for replying. Does it mean that Airbyte only does the Extraction & Loading, dbt is something like describing models on top of the connectors ?

airbyte open source is mainly for extracting the data (the E in the ETL), while dbt is the T in the ETL

The documentation is quite complex to understand, as the resources are limited to me. As per the above documentation , it allows to make a query in airbyte, out of curiosity , what do you reckon on this

not sure what do you mean about query in airbyte airbyte extracts the data and after that you can have models in dbt run- there is a default available option to do normalization in dbt if you choose to do so. this means that you can create dbt models that will "normalize" the data as you see fit. the dbt docs are https://docs.getdbt.com/ so it`s 2 different tech
