No. The connector source will use the updated container image.

I modified the schema.json file of the connector, but the connection did not update as I thought.

Ah ok, when updating the schema, one needs to refresh the source schema. Some time since I had to this, so not sure if my memory serves me correctly. Did you hit the "refresh source schema" button in the Connection -> Replication Menu of your existing connection?
