kubectl get pods --all-namespaces | grep db
# Dump the database
kubectl exec -n airbyte -it airbyte-db-0 -- bash -c "pg_dump -U airbyte db-airbyte > /tmp/airbyte_backup.sql"
# Copy backup locally
kubectl cp airbyte/airbyte-db-0:/tmp/airbyte_backup.sql ./airbyte_backup.sql
[Helm Chart V2 Upgrade]
Step 2: Add the Helm Chart V2 Repository Helm chart V2 uses a different repo URL (/charts) than V1 (/helm-charts):
helm repo add airbyte-v2 https://airbytehq.github.io/charts
helm repo update
[Helm Chart V2 Upgrade]
Step 3: Uninstall the Old Helm Release > ⚠️ Do NOT delete the namespace — only uninstall the release.
helm uninstall airbyte -n airbyte
Step 4: Create a New values.yaml for V2 The V2 chart has a different configuration syntax. You'll need to create a new values.yaml compatible with V2. Refer to the migration guide for syntax changes.
Step 5: Identify the Target Helm Chart Version helm search repo airbyte-v2 --versions
This shows you which Helm chart version maps to which Airbyte app version. [Deploy Airbyte]
Step 6: Reinstall Airbyte with V2 Chart helm install airbyte airbyte-v2/airbyte \
--namespace airbyte \
--values ./values.yaml \
--version <chart-version> # e.g., the version corresponding to 2.2
Step 7: Resume Port Forwarding After installation, resume your local port forwarding:
kubectl -n airbyte port-forward deployment/airbyte-server 8080:8001
[Upgrading Airbyte]
⚠️ Key Notes • Airbyte 2.1 is marked as experimental — if stability is your primary concern, you may want to go directly to 2.2. [Airbyte 2.1 Release Notes]
• Review the breaking changes list before upgrading, as jumping multiple versions may involve breaking changes.
• During the upgrade, Airbyte will be temporarily unavailable. 👍 0 button 👎 0 button ℹ️ Tip: Mention @kapa.ai in the thread for follow-ups or DM the app for 1-to-1 help.
