kubectl get pods --all-namespaces | grep db
# Run pg_dump inside the pod
kubectl exec -n airbyte -it airbyte-db-0 -- bash -c "pg_dump -U airbyte db-airbyte > /tmp/airbyte_backup.sql"
# Copy backup locally
kubectl cp airbyte/airbyte-db-0:/tmp/airbyte_backup.sql ./airbyte_backup.sql

Step 2: Add the Helm chart V2 repo Helm chart V2 uses a different repo URL (/charts instead of /helm-charts):
helm repo add airbyte-v2 https://airbytehq.github.io/charts
helm repo update
[Helm chart V2 upgrade guide]
Step 3: Create a new values.yaml for V2 The V2 chart has syntax changes. Start with a basic config and migrate your V1 settings:
global:
edition: community
airbyteUrl: "" # The URL where Airbyte will be reached
Key syntax changes to be aware of:
[values.yaml update guide]
Step 4: Deploy Airbyte 2.1 with Helm chart V2 First, find the correct chart version for Airbyte 2.1:
helm search repo airbyte-v2 --versions
Then install (if using a new namespace with external DB):
helm install airbyte airbyte-v2/airbyte \
--namespace airbyte-v2 \
--values ./values.yaml \
--version <chart-version-for-2.1>
Or, if reinstalling in the same namespace (no external DB):
# First uninstall (do NOT delete the namespace)
helm uninstall airbyte -n airbyte
# Then reinstall
helm install airbyte airbyte-v2/airbyte \
--namespace airbyte \
--values ./values.yaml \
--version <chart-version-for-2.1>
[Deploy Airbyte guide]
Using abctl instead? If you manage Airbyte with abctl, simply upgrade abctl to version 0.30.0 or later and run:
abctl local install
This automatically uses Helm chart V2. [abctl upgrade guide]
> ⚠️ Important: If you are on Self-Managed Enterprise, do not upgrade to 2.1. Contact your Airbyte representative about switching to a Cloud plan instead.
