04/07/2026, 2:53 PMabctl. However, based on the available documentation, abctl supports installing a specific Helm chart version using the --chart-version flag. Here are the general steps for a fresh installation: Fresh Airbyte Installation via abctl Step 1: Install Docker Before using abctl, ensure Docker Desktop (or Docker Engine on Linux) is installed and running on your machine. [abctl overview] Step 2: Install abctl The fastest way (Mac/Linux):
curl -LsfS https://get.airbyte.com | bash -
Or via Homebrew (Mac):
brew tap airbytehq/tap
brew install abctl
Verify the installation:
abctl version
[install abctl] Step 3: Install Airbyte To install the latest version:
abctl local install
To install a specific Helm chart version, use the --chart-version flag:
abctl local install --chart-version <CHART_VERSION>
For example:
abctl local install --chart-version 0.422.2
[abctl reference]
> Note: The --chart-version flag refers to the Helm chart version, not the Airbyte app version (e.g., 2.1.0). The knowledge sources do not provide a mapping between Airbyte app version 2.1.0 and its corresponding Helm chart version. You would need to check the abctl releases page or Airbyte's Helm chart repository to find the correct chart version corresponding to app version 2.1.0. Step 4: Access Airbyte Once installation completes, Airbyte will be accessible at http://localhost:8000 by default. 04/08/2026, 6:44 PMairbyte/airbyte is 2.0.19 which corresponds to app version 2.0.1
The only 2.1.0 version I see with the helm chart airbyte/airbyte-data-plane - where chart version 2,1.0 corresponds to app version 2.1.0
The --chart-version parameter in abctl only seems to relate to the helm chart airbyte/airbyte. So how do I install the experimental version 2.1.0 instead of 2.0.1?kapa.ai
04/08/2026, 6:44 PMabctl install the airbyte/airbyte-data-plane chart or to directly target Airbyte 2.1.0 via abctl. They only document:
• abctl local install installs Airbyte using a Helm chart, and
• --chart-version lets you pin a Helm chart version (for the main airbyte/airbyte chart), not an app version. [abctl ref; abctl + chart-version]
From the docs and issue thread:
• --chart-version is meant for the standard Airbyte chart (historically airbyte/airbyte), and is used like:abctl local install --chart-version 1.9.1which, for example, installs Airbyte 2.0.1 when using Helm chart V1. [Helm v1 + abctl]
• There is no mention of abctl supporting:
◦ selecting a different chart name (like airbyte/airbyte-data-plane), or
◦ mapping to an experimental app version such as 2.1.0.
The docs also clarify that --chart and --chart-version are mutually exclusive flags for abctl, but they still describe --chart only as a path to a local chart, not as a way to switch to a different remote chart/repo. [abctl flags; abctl ref]
Given this, based solely on the provided sources:
• I cannot see a documented way to have abctl install the 2.1.0 experimental app version via the airbyte/airbyte-data-plane chart.
• The only documented control you have is --chart-version for the main airbyte/airbyte chart, which (as you observed) currently tops out at app version 2.0.1.
So, with the information available:
> There is no documented, supported abctl command in these sources that installs Airbyte 2.1.0 instead of 2.0.1.
To reach 2.1.0 today, the docs only show Helm-based installs where you explicitly pick the matching chart version (e.g. 2.0.18 → app 2.0.0) using helm install directly, not via abctl. [Helm v2 mapping; install via Helm]
If you need 2.1.0 specifically, the safest path based on these docs is:
• use Helm directly with the appropriate chart/app version mapping, and
• treat abctl as pinned to the stable chart/app versions it currently supports.
Unfortunately, the exact chart version for app 2.1.0 (for airbyte/airbyte, not airbyte/airbyte-data-plane) is not listed in the provided sources, so I can’t give you a concrete helm install command for 2.1.0 either. 👍 0 button 👎 0 button ℹ️ Tip: Mention @kapa.ai in the thread for follow-ups or DM the app for 1-to-1 help.
