The docs show:
abctl local install
This installs or updates a local Airbyte instance, but the provided references do not document a flag to choose a specific Airbyte version. They only show adding secrets/values, not version selection:
abctl local install --secret YOUR_SECRET --values values.yaml
[abctl local]
Because of that, I cannot confidently say how to pin an exact Airbyte version with abctl from the available docs.
What you can do with abctl is:
• Install/update the default version: abctl local install
• Check status and see which chart/app version you got:
abctl local status
Example output shows chart and app versions, but not how to choose them. [abctl local]
Given the current knowledge sources, version selection with abctl is not documented.

2. Using Helm (Kubernetes) – explicit version pinning
If you’re okay running Airbyte on a local Kubernetes cluster (e.g., kind, k3d, minikube), Helm lets you explicitly choose the version.
1. Find the Helm chart version that corresponds to the Airbyte platform version you want:
helm search repo airbyte-v2 --versions
The output maps CHART VERSION to APP VERSION (Airbyte platform version), e.g. CHART VERSION 2.0.18 → APP VERSION 2.0.0. [Install Airbyte]
2. Install that specific version:
helm install airbyte airbyte-v2/airbyte \
--namespace airbyte-v2 \
--values ./values.yaml \
--version 2.0.18
Here --version 2.0.18 pins the Helm chart, which in this example deploys Airbyte APP VERSION 2.0.0. [Install Airbyte]
This is the only clearly documented way in the provided sources to install a specific Airbyte version.

Summary
• With abctl local install, the docs do not show how to choose a specific version; they only show generic install/update.
• With Helm, you can reliably install a specific Airbyte version by:
◦ Looking up the chart ↔️ app version mapping via helm search repo airbyte-v2 --versions.
◦ Installing with helm install ... --version chart_version.
If you tell me which exact Airbyte version you want (e.g., 1.8.5 or 2.0.0), I can point to the matching chart version from the example mapping in the docs. 👍 0 button 👎 0 button ℹ️ Tip: Mention @kapa.ai in the thread for follow-ups or DM the app for 1-to-1 help.
