do you have insight into how/why they split off from Druid?

well druid is an apache project, so its vendor neutral etc etc. so I imagine that folks from both Imply and Rill are are committers / PMC members for the Druid project (as well as people from other companies entirely). So they both probably use the same druid core that’s available to all, and build on top etc

similar! yeah we’re both apache projects etc. But main difference is that Superset has less strongly invested commercial vendors … at least at this time 🤷
