I am curious, will Airbyte eventually move into the reverse ETL space as well. Right now tools like FiveTran exist for ETL and tools like Census exist for reverse ETL. Im hoping that Airbyte would evolve into a single tool for supporting both similar to what Meltano is stating. Obviously a big feature like reverse ETL is something that doesnt appear over night, but im interested in know if the team believes that is an important direction to head in time. Thoughts??

We do have a similar vision in mind! An in fact, you could technically run some Reverse ETL workflows right now, for example, using the Snowflake source connector and routing back to a Postgres database, but there's a lot of stuff missing here. One massive part naturally being the lack of operational system destinations (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.), which we are definitely planning on supporting eventually. Just out of curiosity, what would your Reverse ETL use case look like?

No concrete timeline yet like Abhi mentions, but reverse ETL is more of a “when” than an “if” question for us. August & September we’re really focused on building out our cloud offering, making a great core product, and adding a ton of connectors to make Airbyte work seamlessly. But we’re thinking about where reverse ELT can fit in and pretty soon

We are looking at scenarios like FB Ads, Salesforce, etc. Net, net, it might be good to consider adding the base level support for this in Airbyte with maybe one plugin and let others help build connections to other systems.
