Does upgrading to a BigQuery destination version above 2.x automatically force existing connections onto the V2 destination version?

Yes, when you upgrade to a BigQuery destination version above 2.x, all connections using this destination will be upgraded to the Destinations V2 format at their next sync. This is because versions are tied to the destination, so when you update the destination, all connections tied to that destination will be sending data in the Destinations V2 format. You can manually sync existing connections prior to the next scheduled sync to start the upgrade early if you wish. Please note that these changes will likely require updates to downstream dbt / SQL models. You can find more information on how to upgrade [here](

) and how to update downstream transformations [here](
