@kapa.ai Where can I configure what a stream is called on the ui? All of the streams I built in the python cdk are lowercased but I would like to change that
k
Stream names in Airbyte refer to table names in a typical RDBMS, but they can also be the name of an API endpoint, etc. You can configure stream names to diverge from their names in the source with a "prefix" field. The prefix is prepended to the source stream name in the destination. This is mentioned in the [Airbyte documentation](https://docs.airbyte.com/understanding-airbyte/connections). However, if you need more granular customization, stream by stream, or with different logic rules, you could follow the tutorial on [customizing transformations with dbt](https://docs.airbyte.com/operator-guides/transformation-and-normalization/transformations-with-dbt). In the Python CDK, the name of the stream is defined in the
source.py
file. For example, in the tutorial on creating a source, a
Pokemon
class is added to represent a stream. The name of this stream will be consistent in the naming of the JSON schema and the
HttpStream
class, as
pokemon.json
and
Pokemon
respectively in this case. You can learn more about schema creation [here](https://docs.airbyte.com/connector-development/cdk-python/full-refresh-stream#defining-the-streams-schema).
python class Pokemon(HttpStream): url_base = "<https://pokeapi.co/api/v2/>" # Set this as a noop. primary_key = None def __init__(self, pokemon_name: str, **kwargs): super().__init__(**kwargs) self.pokemon_name = pokemon_name def next_page_token(self, response: requests.Response) -> Optional[Mapping[str, Any]]: # The API does not offer pagination, so we return None to indicate there are no more pages in the response return None def path( self, ) -> str: return "" # TODO def parse_response( self, ) -> Iterable[Mapping]: return None # TODO
Please note that the stream names are case-sensitive and changing the case in the Python CDK will reflect in the UI.
