Hi everyone, I'm new to Airbyte and I succeeded to deploy it on an EC2 instance recently following this doc. Thank you for this great tool so far! However, when it comes to Connect to Airbyte webapp from my workstation browser, I don't succeed to make it. Could you help? Here is my config:
Copy code
EC2 VPC ingress policies = all protocols allowed, all ports, but behind our enterprise VPN
TF statements: associate_public_ip_address = false
Trying to connect from my workstation browser, with the VPN, on <http://localhost:8000>

Sure, I'd be happy to help you connect to the Airbyte webapp from your workstation browser. Based on the information you provided, it seems like you have deployed Airbyte on an EC2 instance and you're trying to connect to it from your workstation. However, you're unable to do so because your EC2 instance is not associated with a public IP address and is behind a VPN. Here are the steps you need to follow to connect to Airbyte: 1. Create an SSH tunnel for port 8000: If you want to use different ports, modify
API_URL
in your .env file and restart Airbyte. Run the following commands in your workstation terminal from the downloaded key folder:
Copy code
bash # In your workstation terminal   SSH_KEY=~/Downloads/dataline-key-airbyte.pem   ssh -i $SSH_KEY -L 8000:localhost:8000 -N -f ec2-user@$INSTANCE_IP
2. Visit
<http://localhost:8000>
to verify the deployment
. Please note that the above command should be run in your local terminal, not in the EC2 terminal. The documentation refers to this as "workstation terminal" [source](https://airbytehq.slack.com/archives/C021JANJ6TY/p1665521931878549). If you're still unable to connect, you might need to create an AWS network rule to make the Airbyte instance accessible to your external system [source](https://airbytehq.slack.com/archives/C021JANJ6TY/p1671196555381439). Also, ensure that your Weaviate database can be accessed by Airbyte. If your database is within a VPC, you may need to allow access from the IP you're using to expose Airbyte [source](https://docs.airbyte.com/integrations/destinations/weaviate). If you're still having trouble, please let me know and I'll be happy to assist further.

hi @Julien Diennet - I am trying to get airbyte running on ec2 using the same document but the temporal container is crashing with the errors (see my message below). I was wondering what the associate_public_ip_address = false does and where i can add it if I am not suing terraform right now. I have AWS VPN client and am using a private rds instance. Do you think my issue could be a networking issue? I am able to reach the internet from inside the instance
any help would be greatly appriated
Also, wondering what type of ec2 instance you are using

Hi Lindsay ! I succeeded to make it work yesterday. Actually I just had to replace
<http://localhost:8000/>
with
<http://my_instance_private_ip:8000/>
to connect
I'm using Tailscale VPN (managed by the devops of my company, i don't really know this part sorry). As for my settings, I'm using the following EC2 instance type/ami :
Amazon Linux 2023 AMI 2023.1.20230825.0 arm64 HVM kernel-6.1 EBS
As for the rest of the setup i didn't change anything. I'm planning to configure a PostgreSQL DB for Airbyte. But for now I just had to 1. follow this doc 2. replace the
docker compose plugin
part with the setup documented here instead. 3. and this was it !
