Hey - I have Airbyte running through GCP. I set it up with Terraform and a bash script on startup. I need to upgrade the performance of the instance (improved machine type/spec), but if I simply set a new machine type, it'll overwrite the instance of Airbtye and all of my connections will be lost. What's the best method of migrating in a case like this? I think there's probably an option to use a Google Cloud SQL Database as a backend and start it from a backup of the Airbyte docker instance, which would separate the connections and the Airbyte instance, but since that isn't set up right now, is there anything else I can do?

Based on the information provided in the extracts, you can follow these steps to migrate your Airbyte instance to a new machine: 1. Backup your Airbyte configuration data and sync history: Navigate to the Admin page in the UI, go to the Configuration Tab, and click Export. This will download a compressed back-up archive (gzipped tarball) of all your Airbyte configuration data and sync history locally. Please note that any secrets that you have entered into Airbyte will be in this archive, so you should treat it as a secret. [source](https://docs.airbyte.com/operator-guides/upgrading-airbyte) 2. Migrate the local archive to the new version using the Migration App: You can use the Migration App (packaged in a docker container) to migrate the local archive to the new version. Here's an example command:
bash docker run --rm -v /tmp:/config airbyte/migration:0.50.13 --\ --input /config/airbyte_archive.tar.gz\ --output /config/airbyte_archive_migrated.tar.gz
[source](https://docs.airbyte.com/operator-guides/upgrading-airbyte) 3. Copy the database volume: Airbyte has a PostgreSQL database. You need to copy the database volume and restore it on the other machine. In a Linux system, it is usually stored in:
/var/lib/docker/volumes/airbyte_db
. [source](https://airbytehq.slack.com/archives/C021JANJ6TY/p1665717888611129) 4. Set up the new machine: Follow the steps provided in the [GCP deployment guide](https://docs.airbyte.com/deploying-airbyte/on-gcp-compute-engine) to set up the new machine. This includes creating a new GCP instance, setting up the environment, installing Docker and docker-compose, and installing and launching Airbyte. 5. Restore the backup on the new machine: After setting up the new machine, you can restore the backup you created in step 1. Please note that these steps are based on the information provided in the extracts and may not cover all the details. Always refer to the official Airbyte documentation and guides for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
