Some outstanding questions from community members on the presentation cc @John (Airbyte), @Michel: • @Adri: Which other areas of Modern Data Stack do you see to be great areas for the open-source paradigm? • K G: What type of roles/positions are the ones actually executing the transaction? Who's buying Thoughts on marketing to these roles and are there any existing companies that you are modeling these tacticts after? • @Sarthak Khandelwal: How are you prioritizing (people, product, GTM) in Cloud vs Open Source now to deliver on that valuation? • @Sarthak Khandelwal: What were the drivers behind prioritization of connectors? Was it mainly driven by community? • @Hamza Ahmad: Apart from data integration and orchestration, what are the biggest challenges that the industry is facing where there is no current "good" solution for? • @Hamza Ahmad: What's the mechanism that you use to manage computation/storage within a customer's VPC? Within an AWS account, do you leverage a customer IAM role with specific privileges? If so, how do you convince customers to grant that access? Do you demonstrate security via audits or certifcations (ie. SOC, ISO, etc) • @Simon Späti: How can we imagine the VCs? Are they easy to convince, and everyone wants to invest?  Or do they ask lots of questions before they agree? • @Omar Ghalawinji: What kind of SLA do you look for in the connectors? • Chase Mighell: What kind of SLA do you look for in the connectors? • Oscar Parra: What about monitoring, security, alerts? Is this managed by Airbyte team or the connector contributors? • @Manish Singh (Castled.io): How many connectors to you plan to get to after a year?

• [@Adri] : Which other areas of Modern Data Stack do you see to be great areas for the open-source paradigm? ◦ great question, one idea would be around data quality (think bigeye, Montecarlo…) • [@Sarthak Khandelwal] : How are you prioritizing (people, product, GTM) in Cloud vs Open Source now to deliver on that valuation? ◦ We need to product/eng, people, GTM and community. We’ve focused Q4-2021 on hiring leaders for the different parts of the org and we can now grow all 4 Pilars in parallel • [@Sarthak Khandelwal] : What were the drivers behind prioritization of connectors? Was it mainly driven by community? ◦ Two inputs for prioritization: 1. Usual suspects & databases 2. Community asks • [@Hamza Ahmad] : Apart from data integration and orchestration, what are the biggest challenges that the industry is facing where there is no current “good” solution for? ◦ Here are a few: ▪︎ observability & remediation ▪︎ privacy • [@Hamza Ahmad] :*What’s the mechanism that you use to manage computation/storage within a customer’s VPC? Within an AWS account, do you leverage a customer IAM role with specific privileges? If so, how do you convince customers to grant that access? Do you demonstrate security via audits or certifcations (ie. SOC, ISO, etc)* ◦ This is a feature on our Cloud roadmap so there are still a lot of details that we need to figure out. • [@Simon Späti] : How can we imagine the VCs? Are they easy to convince, and everyone wants to invest? Or do they ask lots of questions before they agree? ◦ Normal human beings 🙂 ◦ Regarding convincing, it is all about risk and risk mitigation. Any edge or knowledge that you have, you should put forward. They generally ask questions about team, product, revenues, business model… ◦ We like to talk to partners who already understand the space we’re in. There is a lot less education to do and they are generally aware of the problem we’re solving. • [@Omar Ghalawinji] : What kind of SLA do you look for in the connectors? ◦ we’re looking at 99.99% availability. Now, because it not a realtime service and because integrations WILL FAIL, we need to properly define what 99.99% means for the replication service. • Oscar Parra: What about monitoring, security, alerts? Is this managed by Airbyte team or the connector contributors? ◦ for OSS it is up to our users ◦ for Cloud, it is our team and our customers • [@Manish Singh (Castled.io)]: How many connectors to you plan to get to after a year? ◦ With the help of our community, we built ~160 connectors in 2021. We are targeting a total of at least 500 by end of 2022
